According to Wambui, the actual reason behind the fallout involves a sum of KSh 135,000 belonging to the church youth group, for which Evangelist Gathuthu served as treasurer. She alleges that after a meeting where the youth demanded their money, the evangelist went missing and has since avoided phone calls from Bishop Ben, who has been trying to mediate and resolve the issue amicably for over a month.
Wambui strongly defended Bishop Ben , urging the public to stop dragging his name into the controversy and reminding the evangelist of the years of support the Bishop and the church had offered to his family. She challenged Evangelist Gathuthu to provide concrete evidence if he was indeed chased out due to political affiliations, maintaining that JCM remains an inclusive environment for everyone regardless of their political stances.
