Rachael Waithera Njoroge was born and raised in the quiet village of Gakoe, located in Gatundu North, Kiambu County. Growing up in a humble setting, her childhood laid the foundation for the hardworking woman she would eventually become.
She attended Gakoe Primary School, where she sat for her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and scored 280 marks. She then transitioned to Gakoe Mixed High School for her secondary education. Rachael put in immense effort and completed her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a solid mean grade of C+.
With her high school certificate in hand and dreams burning in her heart, Rachael made the definitive move from her village in Kiambu to Kenya's capital city, Nairobi, searching for a brighter future.
The Hustle Begins: Love and Early Career in Nairobi
Life in Nairobi started small. Rachael managed to secure a job working in a local hardware shop, a demanding role where she earned just KSh 300 per day. Despite the low pay, she showed up every day with dedication.
It was during this phase of her life, back in 2007, that fate introduced her to her husband. He was working in the exact same commercial building where her hardware shop was located, running a small business dealing with phones and laptops. A deep bond formed between them. Demonstrating her commitment to the relationship, Rachael officially introduced him to her parents as her boyfriend.

The two eventually moved in together to start a life as a family. Like any real marriage, their early years had testing moments. Rachael openly narrates that she once ran away from her marriage for three days during a period of overwhelming stress, but love and mutual understanding eventually brought them back together to build a stronger foundation.
The Acting Journey and Broken Promises
Driven by a passion for the arts, Rachael transitioned from the hardware store into the Kenyan entertainment industry. She spent time at the iconic Kenya National Theatre (KNT), sharpening her skills and attending auditions.
Her talent was undeniable, and she soon landed roles in local productions. However, the acting industry proved to be brutal. Rachael painfully recalls a time she did massive acting projects where she was owed at least KSh 56,000 in wages. Instead of receiving her hard-earned money, the production team would only serve them tea.

Despite the lack of financial compensation, her breakthrough came when a newly launched Kikuyu television station—Inooro TV under Royal Media Services—held auditions. Rachael secured a spot, marking a major milestone in her media and acting journey.
A Mother’s Greatest Test: Her Daughter’s Medical Condition
While trying to balance her career and family, Rachael faced her absolute hardest battle as a mother. When her firstborn daughter reached 9 months old, Rachael and her husband noticed that her physical development wasn’t normal.
For over two years, they embarked on a agonizing loop of seeking treatments across different hospitals with no clear answers. Finally, when her daughter turned 3 years old, doctors correctly diagnosed her with a rare medical condition known as Oatier Dysplasia (often linked to bone and skeletal growth challenges).
The heavy medical journey officially began in 2012 when her daughter underwent her very first major surgery at just three and a half years old. For nearly 12 years—from age 3.5 to 15—her daughter was placed on constant specialized medication and therapies. Through sheer resilience, financial sacrifices, and faith, the journey paid off: today, her daughter is completely okay and healthy.

With her acting career unstable and her family needing support, Rachael pivoted into the beauty business, completely by accident.
It started small at her home. She would buy standard hair weaves, piece them together creatively to create custom pieces, and wear them. Whenever she went out, people would admire the unique style and ask to buy them directly off her head. Seeing the demand, she started buying ready-made wigs for KSh 10,000 and selling them from home for KSh 12,000. In those early days, the business was slow, taking up to two weeks just to clear a single wig.
After three months of operating from home, her growing clientele began insisting that she open a physical shop. Yielding to their requests, Rachael shared her business phone number publicly on social media.
Instantly, her lines flooded with clients.

Recognizing her raw hustle, a supportive wholesaler who supplied her with wigs gave her a life-changing piece of advice. While others doubted her, this wholesaler told Rachael she had incredible potential. She allowed Rachael to use a small corner of her wholesale shop, complete with a ring light, to create social media content.
Rachael filmed a video showcasing her wigs. That singular video went viral, hitting an incredible 3.5 million views on social media.
